An established part of village life

Our Company History

The history of Allen-White Funeral Directors spans over seventy years.  Positioned in the village of King's Stanley, Stonehouse, the business was originally set up by two brothers, Bill and Owen Allen, incorporating John Hancock of Berkeley, followed by four other Stroud village funeral directors.

During the year of 1971, management and ownership of the company was taken over by owner Mr. Barrie White.  Barrie fused the two names together creating our present company name 'Allen-White'.  Barrie trained and became a qualified member of the National Association of Funeral Directors in 1977 and later in 1982 Allen-White became a member of the association.  Barrie continued his professional development and in June 1989 attained a Diploma from the British Institute of Embalmers and has been a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors for over fifty years.

Barrie is still very much involved in the day-to-day operations of the business and is the sole Director of Allen-White today.  It has been Barrie's ethos to offer clear honest advice at a reasonable cost to bereaved families, with many becoming lifelong friends.

Allen-White is an independently owned and managed business.  We are dedicated to the principles, values and benefits of the traditional funeral service and are committed to providing the highest standard of care and service to each family that we serve.
